At our regular meeting last night a new President and Vice President was chosen. Peter Braun moved up to the President spot to fill the vacancy made by the resignation of Paul Hay and Jeff Norris was voted into the Vice President position. I look forward to seeing them continuing the great changes the playhouse as start this year said Paul.

Bandon Playhouse’s next major production scheduled for the second, third, and fourth weekends in June is “The Boys Next Door” by Tom Griffin. Director Mike Dempsey has chosen his cast carefully to make this play an extraordinarily sympathetic presentation of life with its moments of quixotic comedy and genuine pathos.
The “boys” of the title live in a supervised complex, each of them having some degree of mental disability. Neal Davis, author/composer of “Bethlehem Road,” is making his stage debut with the role of Arnold; Clyde Showalter, another newcomer to the stage, co-owner with his wife of C’est Vert, is Lucien; Gareth Williams, well-known for his wry portrayals in the Playhouse comedies and for his fine singing voice, presents Norman;
and Russel Hay, active in New Artists productions, Sweet Speeches, and, most recently “The Sound of Music,” is Barry.
Jack, the mentor/supervisor/big- brother/father of the “boys,” is Peter Braun, owner of The Cobbler’s Bench, a professional in film work, and who somehow found the time to direct ”The Odd Couple”
Additional roles are brought to life by Geneva Miller, Richard Robinett, Cathy Underdown, David Kimes, Mary Durel, John, Hubbard, and Jay Straley.
Director Mike Dempsey is ably supported by Assistant Director Andrea Bowden; Stage Manager Linda Davidson; Costumes, Earla Daoust; Set Designer Ruthanne McSurdy-Wong; Lighting and Set Construction, Jeff Norris.
