BRAND NEW PRICING STARTS WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC

Posted By admin on January 28, 2010

The Bandon Playhouse in conjunction with the 10th Anniversary Year of the Sprague Community Theater will come alive with The Sound of Music. Running for three weekends starting February 19th and going thru March 7th, this classic and endearing musical is based on the book The Story of the Trapp Family Singers. It features an unforgettable Rodgers and Hammerstein score, including “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi” and “Climb Every Mountain.” A spirited young postulant named Maria is sent to serve as a governess for Captain Von Trapp, a widower with seven children. Her unorthodox methods quickly win over the children but clash with the regimental conduct the Captain insists upon. Bandon Playhouse President Paul Hay said, “What should be the happy ending after the fairytale romance—the lonely mountain girl gets her prince—is delayed by the invasion of Austria. The happy ending does come however, when they escape.”

The Bandon Playhouse is also very excited about offering BRAND NEW LOWER ticket pricing to start off their 34th Season. The members of the Bandon Playhouse and the community have shared their concerns with the economy being the way it is and that they are afraid that a lot of families will not be able to attend this great show, said Paul. So we listen and lowered our ticket prices to accommodate their requests. Tickets prices for the Sound of Music will be $12 for Adults, $10 for Seniors and Students with IDs and only $8 for Children (12 and under). Tickets will be available online by visiting bandonplayhouse.org/season, at Pazaz Printing and Copying Center (347-2900) or at the Sprague Theater Ticket Office (347-7426).

No Men, but a couple boys

Since we were unable to cast A Few Good Men, we have decided to replace the production with The Boys Next Door. This production will be directed by Mike Dempsey.

The Boys Next Door is touching and funny story of four mentally handicapped men who live together in a communal residence under the eye of their social worker; in a script that shines with humor and understanding, this remarkable play reminds us of our shared humanity.

Show times will be June 11th, 12th, 13th, 18th, 19th 20th, 25th, and 26th 2010 . For more information contact the Sprague Theater at 347-7426

I was very pleased with the great turnout we had at last night’s general meeting.   The excitement and enthusiasm of the group was just what we needed to start this 34th year off.  Lots of ideas and suggestions for us to look at this next year, but here were a couple that was discussed.

 - Readers Theater
 - Paint Locker
 - Ocean Crest School Theater
 - Projects – Mary’s barn, Spring Cleaning, etc
 - Season Tickets again
 - Standardize Submission Forms for future productions

The next board meeting will be on January 27th, 2010 at the Sprague Theater at 6:00 and all of these will be brought up.

Again, thank you one and all for the great turnout.

Not Enough Good Men In Bandon

Unfortunatley it looks like we will be unable to cast “A Few Good Men” for June and are reviewing several options to fill this time slot.   I will let you know more when we have a decision, but I do want to thank Peter Braun for all the hard work on trying to put this one together.
